Bitcoin was born in 2009. The ideas it runs on are much older.

Five of them have been part of Bharat for centuries: struck into silver, carved into stone, taught at its universities, counted by its mathematicians and built into its temples.

Some of the world's earliest coins were made in India: silver karshapanas of a set weight, stamped with punched symbols.

Bitcoin is measured too. There will only ever be 21 million, and anyone running the software can check that number for themselves.

Indian mathematicians treated zero as a number with rules of its own. Brahmagupta wrote those rules down in 628 CE, and a temple wall in Gwalior carries a carved zero from 876 CE.

Every Bitcoin block is sealed with a fingerprint that has to begin with a long run of zeros. Miners around the world make guess after guess until one fits.

The Sun Temple at Konark is a stone chariot on 24 carved wheels. The shadows cast by their spokes can be read to tell the time of day.

Bitcoin keeps its own time. A new block arrives about every ten minutes, and every 2,016 blocks the network adjusts itself to hold that rhythm.

We are a nationwide movement dedicated to building Bitcoin literacy, culture, and community across India- from college campuses and local communities to creators and corporate teams.

Bitcoin Bharat exists to ensure that Bitcoin in India is understood as open, permissionless money- not speculation, hype, or short-term trading.

At 21, founder Aditya Ranjan was invited to speak at two sessions in Hong Kong. His panel, India as an Untapped Bitcoin Juggernaut, was the first of the two-day event, held on the Nakamoto Stage, where only a few speakers are invited. His invitation: build in India, and showcase your products to the curious young audience of the Bitcoin India Tour. He also revealed the title of his free book for Indian students.

Bitcoin Bharat runs India's largest grassroots Bitcoin education program. Through the Bitcoin India Tour, we have held more than 100 free sessions in over 60 cities, reaching 17,000+ students and community members.

Is Bitcoin education by Bitcoin Bharat free?

Yes. Sessions for students and communities are always free. Bitcoin Bharat does not promote trading, speculation or any exchange.

Where does Bitcoin Bharat hold Bitcoin education sessions?

Across 60+ cities in India, from IITs and NITs to state universities, through the Bitcoin India Tour. Each state has its own page listing the cities and colleges.

What will I learn at a Bitcoin education session?

What Bitcoin is and how it works, why it is open and permissionless money, how to hold it safely with self-custody, and how to avoid scams.
